Finding Freedom in Unsettlement: A Journey Towards Self-Discovery

As we enter a new year, many of us take time to reflect on our goals and aspirations for the next twelve months. For some, this means creating long lists of resolutions they hope to achieve by the end of the year. But what if our pursuit of self-improvement is actually stifling our growth?

As I prayed this prayer, I began to see areas of my life where I had settled for mediocrity or compromise. I realized that I had been trying to fix my problems with food and exercise, but what I really needed was a deeper connection with God.

In the past, my approach to New Year's resolutions had always been about trying to change myself from the outside in. But as I began to focus on developing a deeper relationship with God, I discovered that true transformation comes from the inside out.

It's not about achieving some arbitrary weight or fitness goal, but about finding freedom and joy in who we already are in Christ. It's about embracing our imperfections and allowing ourselves to be loved and accepted by God, just as we are.

As I continue on this journey of self-discovery, I'm learning that it's okay not to have all the answers. It's okay to be unsettled and uncertain. And it's okay to ask for help along the way.

In fact, I've come to realize that it's in our moments of uncertainty and doubt that we are most open to receiving God's guidance and wisdom. So as we enter this new year, let's not settle for mediocrity or compromise. Let's pray like I did: 'Unsettle me.' And see where God takes us on this journey of self-discovery and growth.
